The story

Christians who moved to Hisaka in the late 18th century lived as tenant farmers. After they declared their faith they were imprisoned in 1868 in a tiny cell where many died, an episode remembered as the Goto persecution. The old Gorin Church, Goto's oldest wooden church, was moved here. Hisaka is a UNESCO component.
